The Idiomas sem Fronteiras [Languages without Borders] (IsF) – Portuguese program promotes initiatives aimed at teaching Portuguese as a foreign language.

The first step involves organizing initial and continuing education events open to all members of the university community, as well as to public school teachers, to prepare them to teach Portuguese to foreigners. These educators may also serve as instructors or evaluators, supporting the teaching and internationalization of the Portuguese language and Brazilian culture.

Initially, the target audience of the Portuguese courses consists of international students participating in any mobility program in Brazil.

At UFSC, the IsF – Portuguese program also offers free Portuguese language courses to immigrants in vulnerable situations through the PLAM Project.

Currently, the local courses “Cotidiano brasileiro: conhecendo as variedades da cultura brasileira” (level A1) and “Português como Língua de Acolhimento para Refugiados e Imigrantes“ are being offered. Registrations are open until 6 March 2025. For further information, click here.
